Sky High Adventure Park at Holiday Valley

Sky High Adventure Park, the latest addition to Holiday Valley's array of outdoor activities, includes the Aerial Adventure Park, Climbing Forest and Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster. Located next to the Tannenbaum Lodge at the western end of Holiday Valley, Sky High is now open daily through September 4 and on weekends through October 29.

The Aerial Adventure Park at Sky High is constructed of a series of platforms, bridges, ropes, zip lines and other lofted obstacles throughout 13 different courses with varying levels of difficulty. In order of ascending difficulty, there are 3 yellow courses, 5 greens, 2 blues, 2 single black diamonds and one double black diamond. All courses except the double black diamond feature at least one zip line and some have several. The aerial park is the largest of its kind in New York State and the 3rd largest in the United States, occupying 4 of the 15 acre footprint which is allotted for Sky High Adventure Park. The tallest platform featured is 68 feet above the ground and the longest zip line extends 350 feet.

Climbing strategy and balance are just as, if not more important than physical strength when progressing through the aerial park. All climbers are equipped with a special locking lanyard and harness to safeguard them from falling if they slip or let go. There is a weight limit of 265 pounds and children must be at least 7 years old to participate. Tickets are valid for 3 hours, in which most climbers can complete 3 or 4 courses during that time.
The Climbing Forest is a 3-D version of a climbing wall, one of three in the United States. There are 10 trees outfitted with colour coded climbing holds of varying difficulty. Once the climber reaches the top of the tree at up to 45 feet, they let go and an Auto Belay system slowly lowers them to the ground. Climbers must be at least 5 years old and weigh at least 30 pounds.

The Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster is a roller coaster which winds and spirals through the woods and down the mountain. The entire ride is 4,805 feet long with a variety of curves and waves throughout. Riders have the ability to control the speed of their car for a relaxed ride or a thrilling adventure. Cars are fit for 1 or 2 riders. The driver must be at least 8 years old and 54" tall. Children must be at least 3 years old and over 38" to accompany a driver who is at least 16 years old.

From August 5 through October 15, chair lift rides to Spruce Lake will be available from 11a.m. to 5p.m. Riders enjoy the scenic views as the trees begin to turn and the fall season sets in. They can ride up to the top where they may either walk the trails to the base of Tannenbaum or ride the lift back down. The charge is $7 per person and children under 2 years of age can ride for free.
