Owl's Head is located on the shore of Lake Memphremagog in the Municipality of Potton about an hour and a half drive East of Montréal along Autoroute 10 towards Sherbrooke. The mountain offers 50 trails and 10 glades serviced by 6 lifts; 4 Quad chairlifts (3 detachable and 1 fixed grip), 1 double chairlift, and a beginner's Magic Carpet lift. Snowmaking here covers 90% of the trails to keep them at their best. Owl's Head offers a wide variety of trails for the beginner right up to the expert skier. Accommodations can be found right at the base of the mountain at the Auberge Owl's Head, located at the main chalet. The Auberge is currently being renovated and should be ready for sometime in 2019. There are other accommodations nearby to stay at for the time being. Details are available in their website for other ideas on where you could stay. Summer activities include hiking, marina with boat rentals, boat slips for day visitors and residents who own properties at the mountain, and a magnificent 18 hole golf course with large clubhouse with dining room, and proshop
Owl's Head offers a ski terrain of 30% Easy, 35% Intermediate, 15% Difficult, and 20% Extremely Difficult trails to choose from. There are 10 glade trails with a wide variety of difficulty. Cindy's Slip, Nice & Easy, Panorama, and Chouette are some of the easier trails for the beginner to start off with, serviced by the Baby Quad and high speed detachable Black Quad chairlift to practice their skills. The Iniparc learning zone with the Magic Carpet is located behind the chalet. You can find some nice Intermediate cruisers such as Lilly's Leap and Centennial accessed from the Main Quad, and on the lakeside, the Upward Trail is another nice intermediate cruiser. More difficult trails such as the Kamikaze, Allée, Upper Standard, are found in the area of the Main Quad, along with the very difficult Newport Express, Grande Allée, and Korman's Dive. The Colorado offers you moguls and a very steep section referred to as the Wall. The Blue Double chair operates on weekends and during the school breaks, usually frequented by the racers training on the Shady Lady.
In the Chalet, referred to as the MTN HAUS, you will find the ticket counter, ski school desk, day care for the little ones, boutique on the main floor. On the upper level you'll find the cafeteria to refuel on soups, daily specials, and usual fast food fare, or to have a quick break. The Bar is located on the upper level that would be accessed by a set of stairs leading up from the main level, or by the outside. You may order food in the bar to go along with your beverage. Lockers would be located on the basement level along with the ski patrol room with an entrance from the side of the building where the Baby Quad is located.
Owl's Head is currently undergoing some major changes, renovations, and improvements to enhance the skier experience.
At Owl's Head, you will find some of the most spectacular views in the region. From atop of the Main, Black, and Lake Quad chairlifts, or from the top of the Blue Double Chairlift, the scenery is just amazing on a clear sunny day. Just up the lake, you will see the steeple of the monastery at St. Benoit-du-Lac. In the valley below the mountain in the hamlet of Vale Perkins you will come across an extremely popular landmark, Jewett's General Store, where you can pick up a few groceries, treats, or something to drink on the way home. It is a very special place in the hearts of locals and weekenders who frequent the mountain and region.
At Owl's Head, you will find some of the most fantastic views from almost anywhere you are on the mountain. From the top of the Main Quad, right down to the Lake and Black Quad, and points in between, you won't be disappointed. If you are the mood for a nice day of cruising on some long easy or intermediate trails or looking for some challenging expert trails or glades, you will find them here. After a long day of skiing, you won't need to go far to find an après ski beverage, dinner, or a place to sleep. If this is what you are looking for, then Owl's Head is the place for you.
