La Fête de la Musique de Tremblant – back for a 19th edition

One of the first events in the country to combine classical, jazz, and world music, La Fête de la Musique de Tremblant is now in its 19th edition. Founder and artistic director Angèle Dubeau invites music lovers to come enjoy a grand musical panorama in the majestic setting of Tremblant.

Every year, the festival attracts over 35,000 spectators. The 2017 program includes more than 40 free outdoor concerts performed over the Labour Day weekend. From September 1 to 4, festivalgoers can hear concerts in the pedestrian village at the base of the mountain and in Mont-Tremblant's Village and Centre-ville sectors.

Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin, one of the greats of his generation, will open the festival in splendid fashion at the church in Saint-Jovite. The festival continues Saturday at noon with concerts by superb artists, such as "iLove Baroque" from Ensemble Caprice, "Danzas – Spanish Guitar" from Montréal Guitare Trio, a unique performance of Inuit throat singing from the group OktoEcho, and many more.* That evening will feature a ballroom night at Place St-Bernard, where people can come dance to the music of Colin Hunter and his big band.

On Sunday, the festivities kick off with up-and-coming violinist Blake Pouliot. Later, audiences can enjoy a taste of Celtic culture with Ensemble La Cigale and the world of Bach and Paganini with accordionist Alexander Sevastian. Festival stages will also feature groups such as Kleztory, Sultans of String, and many others. On the evening of Sunday, September 3, Angèle Dubeau will once again take the stage with her group La Pietà for the unforgettable program "Angèle Dubeau & Friends."

This year's guests include none other than Vincent Vallières and Gabriella. Dubeau will also perform exclusive selections from her forthcoming album. It's sure to be a must-see event! On Monday, the excellent a cappella group Quartom, along with Intakto, Kattam, and the renowned percussion ensemble Tambouyés will close out La Fête de la Musique de Tremblant.

Once again this year, composer François Dompierre will give his popular improvisation workshops all weekend long at the Piano Public Québecor. Musical street performers will also be on hand to enliven the pedestrian village, including the excellent and entertaining singers of Singin' Rendezvous, the stilt-walkers Kif-Kif, and Kattam.
